Shabab Al Ahli Wins Elite Race in Al Salam And Al Mansoori Joins World Cyclists on the Podium

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Al Salam Cycling Championship, organized by the Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Procurement and Finance, held a historic race as the third event of the championship’s seventh season. It was the men’s elite race, featuring a course for the first time in the championship’s history that started in the heart of Dubai, specifically the historic Al Shindagha district, home to the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House and the Saruq Al Hadid Museum. The race passed many of Dubai’s modern landmarks, including Infinity Bridge, Port Rashid, the Etihad Museum, the Museum of the Future, and more, before reaching the finish line in Al Qudra.

The 172-kilometer race was intense, with 246 world-class, Emirati, and Gulf cyclists participating. They represented 40 teams and held nationalities from 37 countries.

Croatian cyclist Fran Milovic from Shabab Al Ahli team took first place, winning a prize of AED 200,000. Serbian cyclist Dusan Rajovic from Dubai Police team finished second, receiving AED 150,000, while the UAE’s own Ahmed Al Mansoori from Shabab Al Ahli secured third place, earning AED 100,000. Prizes totaling AED 1 million were distributed among the top 20 finishers.

Omair bin Juma AlFalasi, CEO of the Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Procurement and Finance and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, extended his deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He said, “His Highness’s trust in the organizing committee and his continuous support, as well as his presence at the races, always motivate us to bring something new and special to each race. The unique addition in this seventh edition was the exceptional route of the elite race, which presented the world with a beautiful picture of Dubai’s rich history and its shining present as cyclists passed through different areas.”

He added, “Participants, including world champions, our Gulf brothers, and UAE nationals, enjoyed the experience of racing through these stunning areas. The competition intensified with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum following the cyclists, accompanying them in his car. The event was a magnificent scene that showcased the fatherly care and the importance of sports in our leadership’s vision, along with the beauty of the race, the location, and the wonderful weather during the ‘Most Beautiful Winter in the World’ campaign.”

Abdullah Al Obaidli: The Championship Promotes Local Culture and Heritage

Abdullah Al Obaidli, Director of Al Shindagha Museum at “Dubai Culture,” emphasized the importance of hosting the third race of the seventh season of the Al Salam Cycling Championship. He said, “Our hosting of the championship reflects the significant historical value of the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House, located in the historic Al Shindagha district, which stands as a witness to the transformative leaps Dubai has made over the past decades.” Al Obaidli added, “This hosting is part of the partnership between ‘Dubai Culture’ and other government entities, aimed at enhancing Dubai’s position on the global map as a leading sports and cultural destination, in light of the city’s achievements through its hosting of global sports and cultural events.” He also noted that the championship helps raise awareness of local culture and heritage.
